As we were being shuttled from the Kingscote Airport to the Aurora Ozone Hotel, our driver recommended this Italian restaurant within steps of our hotel for dinner. It's called Amadio's Vino e Cucina. He even went so far as to make sure we knew where it was.
The first night we stayed at the Aurora Ozone, we ate dinner at the hotel restaurant. But as we were staying at the hotel a couple nights, the second night we decided to try Amadio's Vino e Cucina that was so highly recommended by our shuttle driver. Read on for the pros and cons.
1. The restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel and had plenty of people eating there but we were still able to get a table inside. We didn't have a long wait and it seemed to be a popular choice.
2. The artwork near our table was beautiful. The restaurant had a really nice ambiance that made it enjoyable to be there.
3. The food I got was just delectable. It really was presented elegantly on the plate and was just delicious. It wasn't a large portion (which made it more appetizing for me), just enough. I chose the penne al arrabiata and yum yum, was glad I did. Now, arrabiata sauce does have a spicy kick to it from chili peppers, but I enjoy spice so this was fine with me. A member of my party got pizza - I had a slice and that was good too. The arrabiata penne was so good that I ordered it at a couple of other restaurants after this one, but it didn't come close to the dish here. This one was the best.
1. The only real con I can think of is the prices aren't cheap. For my dish, the cost was $29. I thought the food was worth the cost but just something to be aware of if you're traveling on a budget.
I see why the shuttle driver recommended Amadio's Vino e Cucina. The atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious. If you're visiting Kangaroo Island and are in the mood for some Italian food, I would recommend here as well.
