When I went to Australia, the first placed we stayed was at the Hilton Cairns and it did not disappoint. Read on for my pros and cons.
1. The breakfast buffet was AMAZING. I mean exceptional. I have never been anywhere that had a larger breakfast buffet. Every breakfast item you could think of, from pancakes, hashbrowns, and eggs to yogurt, pastries, and fruit, the breakfast buffet seemed endless and it was soo good. There were even many unexpected items like miso soup and noodles!
2. The pool was large and wrapped around, so there was plenty of room to swim around or toss a ball around. It had these white chairs around it that you could sit in or even put in the pool on the edge to get your legs wet. It was the first time I've been in a pool with chairs you can sit in, which is nice whether you want to chat, read, or just relax. It wasn't crowded either, less than 10 people in the pool area when I was there.
3. I ordered a coffee mocha and it was brought out to the pool area where I was so I didn't have to stand and wait for them to make it - much appreciated! It was also very tasty!
4. The rooms and check-in were nice - no issues here!
5. The hotel is located in Cairns City, so if you get a chance to walk around you'll find a busy area with a lot going on. Whether you want to shop, eat at a restaurant, visit a church, or go to a park, it'll be within walking distance.
1. The pool was a little too cool for me. I swam around and tossed a ball with a few others in my party for a few minutes but never really got comfortable with the temperature of the water. It's an outside pool and I wish it was a little warmer when I got in. This could have just been the day / time I was in since it was later in the day.
2. I brought a hair dryer brush and though I checked the voltage ahead of time and saw it wasn't in compliance, I decided to try it anyway since the plug fit and guess what, after running for a minute, it never worked again. My fault, but just be aware of voltage differences if you're traveling here from a different country!
Staying at the Hilton Cairns was so nice! I really want to come back to see more of the city and enjoy that fabulous breakfast buffet again.
