My favorite food when visiting Australia was at this small bakery in Port Douglas called Grant Street Kitchen. We went there one morning for breakfast and then I proceeded to go back for breakfast for the following two days we were there. I discovered a new favorite drink and the food I had was delicious. But that's not all. Read on for my pros and cons of Grant Street Kitchen.

The Pros

1. You can get a great cup of coffee here. I discovered my new favorite coffee drink when I walked up to order. I asked for coffee with cream and sugar. The cashier, asked: a flat white? I said, sure if that had cream and sugar. I hadn't had or even heard of a flat white before. It was sooo good! For the rest of my Australia trip, I asked for a flat white everywhere I went. None of the places could beat the flat whites I had for three mornings at Grant Street Kitchen. To commemorate my enjoyment of the drink, I even got a tiny koala with a flat white bobblehead at a souvenir shop.

2. The food is delicious! The donut and pastry I had was incredible. I also wanted to try a meat pie since Australia is known for these. I chose the seafood one and it did not disappoint. So good!

3. The service I had was very pleasant. I was impressed the cashier remembered my coffee order when I returned the next day.

4. Grant Street Kitchen is open early. I went a little after 7 a.m. a couple days but the bakery is open as early as 6 a.m. The early opening was super convenient as one day I had to catch an early flight and I wanted to enjoy breakfast there before I left.

5. There are a few tables outside with umbrellas for shade where I was able to sit and enjoy my breakfast. The weather was nice so this worked well! It felt very small town Main Street, which I liked.

6. It wasn't crowded when I went. I was able to walk up and order right away and then received my order within a few minutes.

The Cons

1. The only con I can think of has nothing to do with the food, drink, or service I had. It is that the tables outside the bakery just have a view of the street. This isn't a problem but if you sit and eat your breakfast you'll just have a view of the front of the bakery or see a few cars going down the street.

Grant Street Kitchen was my favorite Australian eatery that I visited. I definitely recommend visiting if you are in Port Douglas and want a good pastry, pie, or coffee. I would love to go back to Port Douglas and stop back here or have their food in another location.
